SNL Announces December Hosts Saoirse Ronan, James Franco & Kevin Hart

Saoirse Ronan, James Franco & Kevin Hart To Host December SNL Eps.

SNL has had an interesting start to it’s 43rd season. They’re still stuck in Trump mode (although Alec Baldwin has not appeared on the last two shows) and they’ve utilized a lot of first time hosts. That trend will continue Saturday when Saoirse Ronan makes her SNL debut, but 2017 will end with a few familiar faces. Franco has hosted three times while Hart has hosted twice, and they’re more household names than the Haddish’s and Ronan’s of the world. With everything happening in Hollywood, having fresh faces host is probably a smart move, but I do enjoy when some old favorites return.

Kevin Hart had one of my favorite monologues of season 41 and Franco is always down to get weird, which usually makes the best hosts. The other thing to look for this weekend and moving forward is how SNL responds to the Al Franken sexual misconducts news. Franken is a former writer and cast member, so I’d expect Jost and Che to have something to say about him during Weekend Update.

SNL Has It’s Hosts Lined Up For November & They’re Predictably Wonderful

SNL’s Line Up For November

SNL on Twitter.

We already knew Larry David & Miley Cyrus would be the host/musical guest for this Saturday’s show, but now Saturday Night Live has announced the hosts and musical guests for the next two shows as well. Tiffany Haddish (The Carmichael Show, Girls Trip) & Chance The Rapper will be making their hosting debuts, and they’re accompanied by some power house musical guests. Taylor Swift & Eminem are as big time as it gets for musical guests, and might even appear in a sketch or two. With Haddish and Chance The Rapper making their hosting debuts, 4 out of the first 6 hosts for season 43 will have been first timers.

My Favorite Sketch From Kumail Nanjiani’s #SNL: Bank Breakers

Kumail Nanjiani hosted SNL this past weekend and continued the trend of stand up comics being some of the best hosts. Stand up comedy seems to be a good pre cursor for hosts of SNL, and most of them have great stage presence which always helps when you’re doing live TV. Nanjiani was a great first time host, and my favorite sketch was Bank Breakers. The reveal of Cecily Strong’s character being a veteran with a sick child was great, as was Nanjiani’s reaction. Jackets and jeans, baby.

P.S. If you haven’t yet, please watch his monologue as well.

Melissa McCarthy Is Rolling Around Manhattan On A Podium Dressed As Sean Spicer #SNL

Melissa McCarthy is hosting SNL this weekend, and it looks like we have at least one sketch to look forward to where she’ll be performing her spot on Sean Spicer impression. The one in the videos above will be a pre taped sketch, so it remains to be seen how many live sketches we’ll get with Spicer. The makeup process for the transformation has to be crazy, so I can’t imagine SNL would be able to get her ready during a commercial break. McCarthy is so great at sketch comedy that I know it’ll be a wonderful episode no matter what the content is, but a few timely Spicer burns are always fun to watch.

My Favorite Sketch From Chris Pine’s #SNL – SWAT Recon

Chris Pine hosted SNL for the first time Saturday night, and with Melissa McCarthy and The Rock as the final two hosts, this seemed like the writer’s and cast’s shot to sing and get weird. Pine sung in almost every sketch he was in (including his monologue) and no sketch was weirder than SWAT Recon. Kenan Thompson and Beck Bennett played SWAT team officers spying on Bobby Moynihan’s fugitive character. The only problem with that is directly next door Chris Pine and Mikey Day are eating cotton candy, having backpack dance parties and dancing with Leslie Jones in a zoot suit. You know, just your typical sketch day on the job.

Octavia Spencer & Scarlett Johansson Will Be The Next Two Hosts Of #SNL

via @NBCSNL

This will be Octavia Spencer’s first time hosting the show while Ms. Johansson will be the latest inductee into the ‘Five Timers Club’. Spencer is vying for 2nd Oscar win this Sunday as she was nominated for her role in Hidden Figures, so win or lose, this is perfect timing for her to join in on the Trump jokes. Scarlett will presumably be there to promote her new movie Ghost in the Shell (which premiers March 31st) but I think I speak for everyone when I say she could be there promoting my grandfather’s funeral and I’d still be happy to see her. Joining both of the talented actresses on the 8H stage are Father John Misty and Lorde, respectively.
