Android 4.3 – What Exactly Do You Get?

Android 4.3 was released last week and I finally got the update on my Nexus 7 and Nexus 4.  Now that I have the update I am wondering what exactly do I get with it? Luckily one of my favorite tech vloggers, MKBHD, has the answers I have been looking for!

New Nexus 7 Lineup

7-google-new-nexus-7-240713Among Google’s announcements yesterday was the new Nexus 7, Google’s 7inch tablet.  The original Nexus 7 broke ground in both price and performance and this year’s model is no different. Google has released 3 different models of the Nexus 7:

• 16gb wifi edition ($229)
• 32gb wifi edition ($269)
• 32gb LTE edition ($349)

The Google Nexus 7 is made by ASUS and packs a serious punch. With a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM, everything runs faster. Plus, high-performance rendering ensures 3D graphics are smooth and dynamic.

With dual-band Wi-Fi and optional 4G LTE, including support for hundreds of networks worldwide, you’ll stay entertained – and connected – wherever you are.” -Google

Along with the performance upgrades, they also added a rear facing camera, a higher resolution display, and made the whole form factor smaller and more compact.

If you ask me, this is still the best and cheapest 7inch tablet you can get. You could buy one nexus 7 and a Chromecast for every TV in your house, and still pay less than what an iPad costs.

Google, Take My Money – Chromecast Edition

unnamedGoogle just made some announcements live over its YouTube channel that I am particularly excited about.  Along with the new line of Nexus 7 tablets (which are still, by far, the best bang-for-buck tablet going) Google announced something called ‘Chromecast’.  It is essentially a HDMI flash drive that puts the power of google chrome into your TV.  Now you can stream: videos, pictures, music, web browsing (across all devices) to your TV! But wait…isn’t that kind of what the Apple TV and Roku do? Yes it is, and it does it for the fraction of their prices.  $35 gets you everything you need, PLUS 3 months free of Netflix.  Need I say more? Google, you know the drill, TAKE MY MONEY!

Here is a video better depicting this ground breaking tech. (ground breaking in the sense of how cheap it is)
