Trailer Alert – The Punisher [Netflix]

Will The Punisher sooth my Defenders hangover? Well, its too soon to tell. I do know that Jon Bernthal was the PERFECT choice for the gun-weidling badass. I have a feeling that the brutal visuals, awesome music, and fantastic dialogue are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Netflix’s newest superhero installment.

Please excuse me while I sync up war documentaries to Metallica albums.

Alien Covenant, Dark Universe and Bad Movie Descriptions – MMGA Episode #15

Steely Phil replaces Adam on the 15th episode of the Make Movies Great Again Podcast. On this episode, we stump each other with Bad Movie Descriptions, attempt to sum up Alien Covenant in one word, gush over Tom Hardy as Venom and try to make sense of Universal Pictures’ new ‘Dark Universe.’

And don’t go chasing waterfalls just yet, we also have a new Movie Club episode. This week, we chat about the kung fu classic, ‘The 36th Chamber of Shaolin.’

Don’t leave this page without listening to both! (or at least SUBSCRIBING to our podcast)

The Nokia Candy Bar is BACK

The company, HMD, recently released something exciting. They have revived the Nokia 3310 in the form of a android-running modern candy bar cell phone. Accorsinf to the presser, The Nokia 3310 will retail at an average global retail price of €49 (about $51.97). Here’s a closer look:

The specs:

  • System: Dual band 900/1800 MHz
  • Software platform: Nokia Series 30+
  • Dimensions: 115.6*51.0*12.8mm
  • Weight: 79.6 g (including battery)
  • Display: 2.4’’ QVGA (240*320)
  • two Micro SIM slots
  • Curved window with polarised layer for better readability in sunlight
  • Connectivity: micro USB, 3.5mm AV connector,
    Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM
  • Camera: 2Mpxl camera with LED flash
  • MicroSD card support up to 32 GB
  • LED torchlight

These numbers are all well and good, but I only ned one piece of information…where and when can I buy one? For too long now have I dreamed of owning a simple phone for the times when I need, and want, to be off the grid. This little guy, developed by HMD, seems like the perfect mix of on and off the grid. Not to mention it brings me back to Christmas 2003 when I received my first cell phone, a Nokia 3310. Santa also brought a case for my phone that year; it was black and glossy with flames on it. Literal FIRE. Pair that with my frosted tips and you can probably imagine why I was a hit* with the ladies back in the day.

*Not a hit at all.

Trailer Alert – Dead Men Tell No Tales

If you thought I was excited for a new Transformers movie, it doesn’t even come close to how excited I am for a new Pirates movie. Kind of shitty that the 4th one didn’t have Orlando Bloom, so i’m glad to see him back in this one.

PS – This Cash song is suddenly super popular for movie trailers.

Trailer Alert – War for the Planet of the Apes

HERE. WE. GO

My biggest gripe with these movies is the inconsistent cast (Other than Cesar and his other monkey friends). No one human actor makes it from one movie to the next and it kind of bugs me. I say “kind of”, because other than that I adore these flicks. They are the pinnacle of motion capture performances (fuck Avatar and the blue horse it rode in on) and truly show off what a big studio can do with CGI. 2017 is going to be a WILD year for Sci-Fi movies.

Trailer Alert – Wonder Woman

GET HYPED PEOPLE. THE AMAZON IS HERE!

GOOSEBUMP CITY. First off, can I move to Themyscira? What’s the cost of living compared to RI? Taxes HAVE to be better. I think this trailer speaks for itself. There’s Nothing I can add that hasn’t already been decocted from this trailer. This movie looks dope. Plain and simple.

PS – I’m just going to call Chris Pine’s character “Captain Kirk”, If that’s ok with everyone. It better fits into the Star Trek fan faction i’m writing.

Massive 14-Acre Star Wars Parks Coming to DisneyLand and Disney World

Prepare to make the jump to light speed!

For those of you living under giant rocks, Disney had its annual D23 event over the weekend. This event is pretty much Comic Con but if you listen very closely you can hear people being asked if “they would like to build a snowman”, over and over and over again. D23 is a magical experience that I hope to enjoy someday, but until then I will have to settle for reading it online and regurgitating it here.Unknown

Major movie announcements flooded D23 with the highlights being: The Incredibles 2, Finding Dory, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men tell no Tales and of course the “it would be stupid-dumb if we didn’t do this” Frozen 2. Other highlights included photos from Star Wars: Rogue One, a Darth Vader themed PS4 and two full on themed Star Wars Disney Parks! So actually, D23 was exactly like Comic Con but with more Star Wars.

The proposed parks are said to be 14 acres with full-on Star Wars themed restaurants, shops and of course, rides. Even teasing a ride where you get to pilot the Millennium Falcon! This makes me very excited, to say the least.
