Game Of Thrones Confirmed The Rightful Heir To The Iron Throne In The Season 7 Finale ‘The Dragon & The Wolf’

*Spoilers below. Although if you haven’t watched the season 7 finale yet, you probably shouldn’t’ even be on the internet.

If you’ve read any of George R.R. Martin’s books (which I haven’t, but I’m surrounded by friends who have so I get all the juicy info) then you’ve known for awhile that Jon Snow is a Targaryen. What we didn’t know was that he was THE Targaryen, and is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne as Rhaegar Targaryen’s oldest male son. Gilly alluded to it a few episodes back when she and Sam were getting ready to leave the Citadel, but we got confirmation last night as Sam told Bran about the transcript he translated and 3 eyed raven Bran was able to go back in time and visually confirm it. The switch from the books is that Jon Snow is Aegon Targaryen in the show while Aegon was Jon’s older brother in the books (at least as far as Mr. Martin has written them). In the books, Aegon was supposedly murdered by The Mountain, but seeing as Aegon is Jon Snow in the show, that’s obviously not possible. It’s an enormous revelation, and Game of Thrones is a special brand of deranged for confirming that Jon Snow is a Targaryen in a voiceover while we watch Jon and Daenerys make incest love.

There was A LOT more that happened in the finale, and we’ll be talking about later in the week during our TV Club podcast. We’ll miss you Game of Thrones. Please come back soon.
