I can’t recommend the new Starz show American Gods enough, and since episode 3 premieres tonight, I thought it would be a good time to share one of my favorite songs from the show’s first two episodes. “In The Pines”, also known as “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”, has been covered a million times by a million different artists, but this version that also popped up in the show’s trailer is marvelous. Mark Lanegan was an integral figure in the 80s/90s Seattle grunge scene, and he brings a lot of that grittiness to this cover version. Reward your ears and listen away.
