Marge and Homer are Getting a Divorce!
After 26 years of loving marriage and wedded bliss on TV, Homer and Marge Simpson are going to split.
In an interview with Variety, executive producer Al Jean spoke to the site about the upcoming 27th season and the big move to have Homer play the field.
“In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham,” he said. – abc news
What is happening?! It’s my fault, I know it is. I haven’t watched them in a while, I thought they would be ok. This is truly the end of an era. Just like Homer, TV’s longest running animated show is going in a new direction. Seeing Homer playing the field will be undoubtedly funny, but still sad at the same time.

Monster Blog Wednesday – Favorite Animated Characters
This weeks Monster Blog is dedicated to the actors and actresses that are brought to life by a pen an paper. The cartoon, animated movies, and comic strips alike are all examples for places with underrated talent. These colorful pencil strokes often get forgotten during award season and thats a shame. That’s why The Average Nobodies are dedicating this weeks Monster Blog to our favorite animated characters.
Homer Jay Simpson
No TV or movie actor has given me more enjoyment than Homer Simpson. Ever since I was a kid, my brother an I would binge on Simpson episodes for hours on end. Christmas vacation week meant one thing: Simpsons marathons until our eyes bled. Every time I see this yellow shaded fellow on the tube this nostalgic feeling comes over me and I get transported back to simpler times. The way he loves donuts, beer, and his family (usually in that order) makes for a guy that I can relate with.

Eric Theodore Cartman
Like The Simpsons, South Park has been on the air forever, and animated or not, that can’t happen for a TV show unless they have timeless characters. It’s hard to argue that any television character has had a funnier/more psychopathic legacy than Eric Cartman. In a show filled with great characters, it’s the pudgy, foul mouthed blue hat wearing youngster that stands out above the rest. Between his hatred for Kyle (and most Jewish people), his entrepreneurial spirit and his general horrible, selfish behavior, Eric Cartman has permanently entered the hearts and minds of everyone who has seen the show. While he’s had so many great moments on the show, his crowning achievement was in “Scott Tenorman Must Die”, where he exacted revenge on his bully by making Scott Tenorman eat his own parents. It doesn’t get any crazier than that.

Sam Simon Isn’t Letting a Little Terminal Cancer Get in His Way
“The day I was diagnosed I made a promise to myself that I would not spend the rest of my life in bed watching television — which is bizarre because it’s my favorite thing to do.”
Sam Simon, co-creator of The Simpsons, is riddled with cancer, can barely walk, and has been given 3-6 months to live, but that hasn’t slowed him down one bit. Simon has always been a humanitarian, giving to countless food banks that help feed the less fortunate. He is also a advocate of PETA and has left a large sum of his fortune to animal shelters. He is doing all of this while 6 different kinds of cancer destroy his body. In the speech I embedded above, Sam gave two words of advice to people over 40 — one was to get a colonoscopy, and the other was to tell someone that you love them. While the first thing is probably only necessary for the over 40 crowd, I think that people of any age should tell someone that you love them. That is a universal truth. Making every second count is the most important thing anyone can do in their lives. Sam Simon isn’t wasting anytime, even with death staring him in the face. We could all learn from him.

PS- Sam Simon is everything our “Badass of the Week” is about.
Happy Pie Day!
In honor of this wonderful holiday I will eat my weight in delicious blueberry pie. If I don’t return to blog on Monday you know what has happened to me. I have succumbed to the blueberry goodness and have passed on to the next life where I will Indubitably do it all over again on next years pie day. I am a gluten for punishment. Pie punishment

**UPDATE**
I’m being told that this day is actually meant for the mathematical term “pi”. Disregard what I have said previously.
