Trailer Alert: The Leftovers Season 2

The Leftovers was one of my favorite shows last season, and the full trailer for season 2 is long overdue. It was dark, sure, but the acting and writing were great, and it’s nice to see a creator not be afraid to get and stay dark throughout a season. After all, the show IS about people disappearing and no one knowing why. The scenery changes for season 2, as we see some familiar faces arriving in a town called Miracle which somehow hasn’t had any departures yet. We’re also introduced to some new characters, and while the first half of the trailer shows most of the characters pretty happy, we know bad news is right around the corner. Season 2 premiers this fall.

Trailer Alert: Fargo Season 2

Season 1 of Fargo was one of the most delightful surprises on TV, and now Season 2 takes us back to 1979 with an Abe Lincoln bearded Nick Offerman and a stacked cast that includes Ted Danson, Kirsten Dunst, Brad Garrett, Patrick Wilson and that son of a bitch Todd from Breaking Bad. If you put all those actors together with the brains behind season 1 of Fargo and make a bad TV show, you are really bad at your job. I can’t wait for good old fashioned Minnesota violence. Fargo season 2 premiers in October.

Trailer Alert: The Bastard Executioner

FX is getting ready for it’s fall programming slate with a slew of trailers and teasers, and among them is the first look at Kurt Sutter’s ‘The Bastard Executioner’. The story follows the journey of a warrior in King Edward III’s army, and I have to imagine that someone like Kurt Sutter had a lot of fun with medieval violence. Also, Kurt Sutter plays a character called The Dark Mute. I’d say its 50/50 odds that he either cuts his own head off and lights himself on fire.

Comic-Con Wrap Up – ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Trailer

My favorite part of comic-con, hands down, is the release of all the movie and television trailers. The panels are great and all, but nothing beats a kick ass movie trailer, or in this case, a 4 minute trailer for the new season of ‘The Walking Dead’. Season 5 ended on a killer note (get it) and season 6 should feature a lot of infighting, as well as possibly the group’s biggest non-walker threat to date. I’ve never read the comics, but I know a lot of people who have, so it’s the best of both worlds. I’m able to get some insight on things we don’t know about, but it’s not a 100% spoiler. I have a feeling this new season is going to be a game changer, and I think more than one of the group’s beloved members won’t survive to see season 7. Also, how many band aids does Rick really need on his face? Seems a little overboard to me. Season 6 premieres on October 11th.

Trailer Alert: ‘I Am Chris Farley’

“Infuriatingly talented”. Towards the end of the trailer for ‘I Am Chris Farley’, the documentary about the tragic comedic actor Chris Farley, Lorne Michaels describes a small group of people he’s worked with in show business as ”infuriatingly talented”. There’s no doubt in my mind that Chris Farley is on that list, and he may even be at the top. He was a force of nature whenever he was on screen, whether it was SNL, the movie screen or even a talk show. He was like a bright light, in that every time you saw him, all your attention was drawn to him. Personally, he’s one of my favorite comedic actors ever, and to think he had such an impact and died at 33 goes to show you how special he was. The documentary features of a who’s who of comedy legends and personal friends of Farley’s giving their insight into his life and career, including Adam Sandler, David Spade, Dan Aykroyd and Jay Mohr. The world television premiere is set for August 10th at 10pm on Spike TV, and you can go to iamchrisfarley.com for all the details and updates.

Trailer Alert: ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ – The Virus Is Spreading

The third sneak peak for AMC’s Walking Dead spinoff ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ doesn’t give us much, just like the two sneak peaks before it, but I think that works to our advantage. We already know the gist of the show, and we already know what’s going to happen. Humans will fight against themselves and the walkers to try and salvage what little part of humanity is left. We don’t need a 2-3 minute trailer showing how it will go down, because we already know how it will go down. Less is more when it comes to spinoff sneak peaks, and I like that AMC is keeping most the details under wraps. Get your swords and cross bows ready, because ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ is less than two months away.

Trailer Alert – Daddy’s Home

Mark and Will are back!

If they have even an OUNCE of the chemistry they had in “The Other Guys” then this is going to be a cinematic masterpiece.

Anyone remember this from about 5 months back? Well this is the movie it was for.
