Here is the Teaser Trailer For the Final Season of HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’

HBO does a lot of things well, but nobody can touch their trailer game for TV shows. They could take a show about a dolphin and whale getting it on and make it look like a Scorsese masterpiece in the trailer. Fortunately for HBO, ‘Boardwalk Empire’ is pretty much the TV version of a Scorsese masterpiece (he’s an executive producer) but that doesn’t stop them from putting out teaser trailers that really peak your interest. According to Michael K. Williams, who plays Chalky White, season 5 will take place seven years after season 4, which puts the show in the time frame of the Great Depression. We’re given a heavy dose of Nucky in this trailer, and it shouldn’t be surprising if the final season revolves around his new, lonely world. ‘Boardwalk Empire’ returns for it’s final season this September.

New Trailer – ‘Fury’ [Starring Brad Pitt]

Brad Pitt loves killing Germans.  This cast has the potential for one hell of a movie. Michael Pena has had my attention ever since ‘End of Watch’.

After What Feels Like Forever, The ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ Trailer is Finally Here

Lloyd Christmas (still my favorite movie character name ever) and Harry Dunn stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to finally drop the long anticipated trailer for “Dumb and Dumber To”. There’s really no use writing about the actual scenes in the trailer, because you have to watch it for yourself. Let’s just say I’ve never had more faith in a sequel than I have in this movie. It’s also remarkable how neither of them looked like they’ve aged a single minute in that trailer. The haircuts look the same, and let’s just say Lloyd took his shaving ketchup joke up a few notches in the opening scene in the trailer. Long live the goofballs.

Oh Happy Day – Dumb and Dumber To Trailer Will Be Released This Tuesday on The Tonight Show

Well this is the best news since sliced bread, and I LOVE sliced bread. Dumb and Dumber is one of the funniest movies of all time and is easily the most re-watchable comedy ever. I’ve seen it at least 100 times and find a new favorite scene/line each time. It’s also very cool that they’re releasing it on The Tonight Show. Instead of just a random release before some comedy movie this summer, The Tonight Show release gives it a big movie feel. Plus, anytime you can get Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in a room together, magic is about to happen. I can’t wait for Tuesday, and I can’t wait for November 14th. Throw another shrimp on the Barbie!

Denzel Washington Is NOT A Fan of Russian’s in the Trailer For “The Equalizer”

This kind of movie puts me in the Jerry Maguire situation. When Dorothy tells Jerry that he had her at hello, and they live happily ever after. Denzel Washington had me at “a former black OPS commando”. That’s all I needed to hear. Name this movie “Denzel hates Russian scumbags and kills a lot of people” and I’d still go see it opening night. There are certain necessities in life, and one of them is watching Denzel Washington kick a bunch of ass. Need ya September 26th.

Steve Carell is Ready For His Closeup – Foxcatcher Trailer

Foxcatcher, the new Olympic wrestling themed film starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo, premiered at Cannes yesterday to rave reviews. Most of those reviews revolve around the acting, and while I’ve always enjoyed Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum, I’d like to focus on Steve Carell. The first look trailer above (a longer version was leaked months ago but the studio took it down) gives us a small glimpse into the film and it’s three main characters. Carell looks haunting, and unrecognizable, as John Du Pont, the millionaire heir to the Du Pont family fortune who used his vast amounts of money to train Olympic wrestlers trying to make their way to the top. Carell’s performance is already getting Oscar buzz, but I’ll leave that for the actual critics to bicker over. I’m excited that Steve Carell was given the opportunity to step out of his comedy shadow and transform into the bad guy. Carell was magical as Michael Scott in The Office. Magical might not even be a strong enough word to express just how great I thought he was. Michael Scott was a character, yes, but he had a very human side to him, and any of us unlucky enough to be employed in Cube Life have come across a Michael Scott at some point or another. I think Steve Carrel always had this kind of performance in him, but he wasn’t given a chance to show it until now. It’s tough to blame writers, directors or movie studios: he’s a comedic gem who always delivers, whether he’s the oddball boss, or the lovable, albeit slow weatherman, or even the 40 year old virgin. When the director of the movie, Bennett Miller, was asked why he chose Carell, his answer was perfect:

Miller said after he met Carell and discussed the part, he knew he had found his Du Pont. “[This] obviously doesn’t resemble anything he has done before,” Miller said. “I asked Steve if he could imagine what life would really be like if he did not have the relief of a sense of humor. Not just being funny but to see humor in things.”

Carell went “to a dark place,” Miller said, adding that he thinks all comedians are dark. “I just thought, he could do it.” (WSJ)

The talent has always been there, and come November, I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be happy the opportunity finally came too.
