Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Will Host The Newest And Most Eyebrow Raising Episode Of SNL On March 28th

My little boy Dwayne is all grown up! There’s a special place in my heart for ‘Attitude Era’ wrestlers, because I’ve been a fan of them for as long as I can remember. Guys like Stone Cold, HHH, Shawn Michaels and The Rock have been involved in my fandom since I was 10 years old, so to see them dominating other aspects of celebrity culture is awesome. Plus, The Rock is a natural performer, and he’s going to be one hell of a host for SNL. Add in the fact that this is happening the night before Wrestlemania 31 and I think I have my new favorite weekend of all time.

The Emmy’s Are Keeping The Hosting Duties In The SNL Family As They Name Andy Samberg The 2015 Host

NICE Fox and the TV Academy’s choice for this year’s Emmy host is Andy Samberg. The actor and comedian, star of the network’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, will emcee the live awards show on Sept. 20 — marking his first time hosting a major television event.

My Favorite Sketch From Chris Hemsworth’s Wonderful SNL Debut – ‘Spaceship’

Whenever you have a first time host who isn’t known for being overly funny, it’s better to be cautious than to expect the world. That was my game plan going into last Saturday’s SNL hosted by Chris Hemsworth, but he blew away my expectations similar to what Martin Freeman did earlier this season. While Hemsworth can certainly be funny, it’s not his forte, but he delivered in just about every sketch he was in last night. The best, and most unique sketch, was ‘Spaceship’. A simple enough premise about a crew that doesn’t feel comfortable taking orders from their non human captain that I was 99% sure would be a robot, but leave it to SNL to flip the switch and make the captain a live chicken. Hemsworth trying to have a one on one heart to heart with a live chicken was the highlight of the sketch for me, but every scene of this bit was great.

Adam Sandler Was on ‘Conan’ Last Night & Told A Pretty Epic Michael Keaton Story

Adam Sandler has been on fire lately, and his string of funny appearances continued last night when he visited Conan. Between this story, the SNL 40 digital short and the Bob Barker skit, he’s had a solid couple of weeks. This story is great for so many reasons, but none more than pulling the Batman trump card. Only a handful of people have ever portrayed Batman, so if those people are ever in an argument, especially over who should pay the bill, the Batman card trumps everything. That might be the most powerful trump card in the game. I can picture Keaton or Clooney or Christian Bale arguing with their friends about where they should go on a Friday night, and after all their friends pick their spot, they jump in with the ‘I’m Batman’ trump card and it’s settled. Actually, that probably doesn’t happen. Everybody knows Clooney has fancy naked parties at his house in Lake Como. Anyway, we didn’t need another reason to love Michael Keaton, but he just gave us one.

Check Out The Dakota Johnson Hosted SNL Sketch That Was Cut For Time, ‘New Playroom’

One of the downsides of SNL being live every week is that the show has to be perfectly timed out in order to fit everything in. Every week after dress rehearsal, a sketch or two will get cut for time, and more likely than not, it’s hysterical. The ‘New Playroom’ sketch that was cut from last week’s SNL hosted by Dakota Johnson is no exception. It’s set up as an HBO First Look at the ’50 Shades of Grey’ sequel, ’50 Shades Darker’. In this scene, Christian Grey takes Anastasia Steele into his new sexual playroom, except it’s still being built and the construction workers are actually there working. I liked this sketch better than the 50 Shades spoof they did with Kyle Mooney as a child reporter, but thanks to the internet, we now get to see both.

My Favorite Sketch From Last Week’s SNL: ‘Say What You Wanna Say’

While the overall episodes for this season’s SNL have been hot and cold, the pre taped sketches have consistently been very good, and ‘Say What You Wanna Say’ continues that trend. The best thing about this sketch is that absolutely everyone can relate to it. Every one of us has gone out to the bar or just out in public and run into someone that you know you’ll never, ever hang out with or talk to, but you’ll be nice and say you will. Well, not anymore. I might just walk around with a boom box and every time I don’t want to do something or talk to someone I’ll press play and blare ‘Brave’. Cubical office life will never be the same again.

Who’s Excited For Dakota Johnson & Her ‘Exciting’ Personality To Host SNL This Week?

I think Dakota Johnson is getting a bad rap. It’s widely known that book nerds are the most vicious critics out there. It’s happened with Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, and now it’s spreading into movies like Gone Girl and more recently 50 Shades of Grey. No matter what the actors and filmmakers do, the movie will never live up to the hype of the book. I don’t know if people expected Dakota Johnson to be some kind of kinky sex slave in real life, but she gives a perfectly fine interview and presents herself well yet everyone jumps down her throat. Of course for me personally, the ultimate test of a man or woman’s merit is how well they host SNL. This is Dakota’s first time, so she has a chance to either shut everyone up or be terrible. Since I’ll be watching the show, I’m hoping for the former. The cast should have an extra pep in their step after their extended time off and the SNL 40 special, so let’s hope they have some good material and tomorrow night’s show is a success. – Ryan

SNL & Broad City Writer Chris Kelly Is Schooling Homophobes & Idiots On Twitter Right Now

Chris Kelly is a writer for SNL and Broad City, which automatically catapults him up to the very top of my list of favorite people on this Earth. His twitter could literally just be him tweeting out pictures of sand and I’d love it because he’s a writer for two of my favorite shows and sometimes that’s enough. Instead of tweeting pictures of sand, Chris took it upon himself to teach a grammar lesson or two to the truly moronic section of twitter that finds it necessary to tweet the word ‘faggot’ out to the world. I don’t like being one to assume things but if you’re using that word in the year 2015 you are not only a piece of shit, but you are also probably an idiot. Case in point: it seems like a lot of people tweeting about ‘faggots’ don’t even know how to spell the word correctly. Hey Universe: if you’re going to spew your ignorance out on social media, at least use spell check. Chris Kelly for the win!
