SNL Spoofed #DeflateGate With Their ‘Patriots Press Conference’ Cold Open Sketch
It’s not officially a scandal, whether it be political, sports or something else, until SNL get’s its hands on it. That’s actually what Lorne and his crew did for their cold open sketch last Saturday. Highlights include Taran Killam as Tom Brady and Bobby Moynihan as the Patriots equipment manager, and whenever Kenan can play Greg Gumbel you know you’re in for a treat.

My Favorite Sketch From Last Week’s SNL – The Rare Perfect Monologue of Kevin Hart
Kevin Hart hosted SNL for the second time on Saturday night, and overall it was a very strong episode. Hart brings a lot to energy to everything he does, which makes an OK sketch good and a good sketch great. After a really funny cold open featuring Kenan as Martin Luther King Jr., Hart took the stage and delivered easily the best monologue of the season. Stand up comedians who host SNL should always do a stand up set as their monologue, as it’s worked for Louis CK, Chris Rock and now Hart. He rambles a bit, but his energy, facial expressions and body language are all great. I won’t spoil it for you, but if I were his son, I’d think twice about taking out the garbage ever again.

Blake Shelton Will Be The Host & Musical Guest For SNL’s Second Episode of 2015
And even more great news! @BlakeShelton will make his #SNL debut as host and musical guest January 24! #BlakeOnSNLpic.twitter.com/sezqo649ay
— Saturday Night Live (@nbcsnl) January 6, 2015
Hot diggity dog. SNL returns on January 17th with host Kevin Hart and musical guest Sia, and now we know who will host (and sing) on the second episode of 2015. I honestly don’t know much about Blake Shelton except that he’s extremely successful and he’s a coach on ‘The Voice’. A sketch featuring Blake Shelton as himself and Kenan as Cee Lo Green is pretty high on my list, but other than that, there’s not much of an expectation for this episode. With the cast finally coming into their own this past fall, 2015 should be a great year for SNL.

Pete Davidson and Amy Adams Pull a “Love Actually” in this Cut Skit from SNL
I’ve said it one and i’ll say it 1,000 times more, Pete Davidson is the next big thing on SNL. He is so calm in front of the camera and he is only 20 years old! 20! That’s nuts. Here’s to you, Pete! (I love hot dogs too)

Dr. Evil Stopped By SNL To School North Korea On What Being Evil Is All About
As much as I wanted to see more of ‘Sam Smith’s Somber Christmas’, it was a treat to see Dr. Evil make his SNL debut. It was a given that SNL would address the North Korea/The Interview situation, and they wasted no time as this was the cold open. Who better to speak about an evil ruler than Dr. Evil, one of the original crazies? This worked so well because not only was it unexpected, but Myers, an ex cast member and brilliant comedic performer, knocked it out of the park. Dr. Evil is a pretty iconic character, and to see it on SNL was pretty monumental. Now that we’ve seen it, I think it’s time to dedicate an entire sketch to Sam Smith’s Somber Christmas. I need to see that.

Music Monday – Night Changes
One Direction performed on SNL, again, the other night and, as usual, they DESTROYED IT. I am not afraid to say i’m a big fan of them. People who say they don’t like their music are lying. That’s all it comes down to.

‘Hobbit Office’, My Favorite Sketch From The Best Episode Of SNL This Season
The best sketch from an average episode of SNL usually sticks with you for a few weeks after, but the best sketch from a great episode of SNL is in the running for sketch of the year. That’s the case with ‘Hobbit Office’, a perfect mash up of Martin Freeman’s two most famous roles (besides Fargo): Tim from the UK version of The Office and Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit epics. The quality of SNL’s pre taped sketches continue to be outstanding, and everyone here knocked their role out of the park, especially Bobby Moynihan and Taran Killam. It’s no surprise that the SNL cast and writers were able to replicate both The Office & The Hobbit characters so well, but their attention to detail, even down to the way the sketch was filmed, was fantastic. Go out of your way to watch this sketch, and the episode as a whole. It was an hour and a half of hysterical sketch comedy.

The Women of SNL Are Back Home For Thanksgiving In My Favorite Sketch From Last Week, ‘Back Home Ballers’
Last year, the women of SNL got together for ‘Twin Bed’, a sketch spoofing adults who go back home to their parent’s house for the holidays. Jimmy Fallon was the host of that episode, so this year the women of SNL added a little twist to their ‘home for the holidays’ video, adding host Cameron Diaz and new cast member Leslie Jones in place of Nasim Pedrad and Noel Wells. Jones’s part was the highlight of the sketch (as is the case in most of the sketches she’s in) mostly because parents do seem to have an almost impossible of amount of bowls. The overall episode was very funny, including a great ‘Black Annie’ sketch, another strong Weekend Update and a bizarre but hysterical sketch featuring Kenan as Dr. Dave who gets his penis ripped off by a monkey. Good luck resisting the urge to find a video of that sketch online. SNL is a repeat this Saturday, but follows that up with back to back to back new episodes, starting with James Franco December 6th.
