#SNL Has It’s Final Three Hosts & Musical Guests Lined Up To Finish Off Season 42

We’ve known that Chris Pine, Melissa McCarthy & Dwayne Johnson are hosting the final three SNL’s of season 24 for awhile now, but the musical guests have been a mystery. Consider that mystery solved as SNL announced that LCD Soundsystem, Haim & Katy Perry will close out the season as musical guests. SNL has been on a weird schedule this year thanks to the top heavy fall lineup that coincided with the most insane Presidential election in history, so I’m glad they’re going out with three straight shows to open May. While the writer’s strike is still looming, I have faith that SNL will finish strong.

What do Louis C.K., Jimmy Fallon, Chris Pine, Melissa McCarthy & Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson have in common? Besides being in my own personal remake of Ocean’s Eleven, they’re also the final five hosts for season 42 of Saturday Night Live. Of the five hosts, only Pine will be hosting his first episode of SNL, with the other four all veterans of the 8H stage. Just in case you weren’t insanely excited to begin with, the final four episodes of this season will be broadcast live in all U.S. time zones for the first time ever. SNL has been a ratings juggernaut this year, enjoying their best viewership in over 20 years, so let’s hope they can finish the year as strong as they started it.

Coming off their best episode of the season, SNL just announced their hosts and musical guests for the month of December. The main thing that jumps out at you concerning Franco, Freeman and Amy Adams is their versatility. The writers and cast members should have a grand old time coming up with sketches and characters for these three hosts. Out of the three, I’m most excited for Martin Freeman, especially after his amazing turn as Lester Nygaard on FX’s Fargo adaptation. I’m expecting a Hobbit sketch during his episode, or maybe even a faux Hobbit trailer now that SNL has proved they can create movie quality fake trailers. Cameron Diaz hosts this Saturday, and then it’s on to December!

We’re so excited to welcome back @chrisrock and musical guest Prince (@3RDEYEGIRL) for our November 1 show! #SNL#SNL40

You knew SNL was going to bring out the big guns for this season, and they don’t get much bigger in the comedy world than Jim Carrey and Chris Rock. Carrey will be hosting his second episode of SNL, and will be there to promote Dumb and Dumber To, while Chris Rock returns to the stage where he was once a cast member. If I’m being honest with myself, any time I get to see Prince perform on live TV is a beautiful bonus. Should be two fantastic episodes.
