If This Picture Can’t Cheer You Up, Nothing Will

Our favorite idiots, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn, are back. Put another shrimp on the bobby!

P.S. It’s going to be weird seeing Jeff Daniels act so goofy. Will McAvoy is still so fresh in my mind.

Justin Bieber Is Ruining My Life

Justin Bieber as Robin?!

There is a solid chance this is a hoax, but hoax or not, this is one of the worst pictures in the history of the world. I got my heart ripped out last night watching Breaking Bad but that’s nothing compared to how I felt when I saw this picture. This move has the potential to ruin movies for me. If I have to watch Justin Bieber be Robin, or any character in any movie ever, then we as a society have failed. He failed miserably as the host of SNL, and I can only imagine how many squinty faces he’d make if he was actually given a prominent role in a feature film. Way to make a rainy Monday worse than it already is, Bieber, and may God help you if this is real.

P.S. IF this is real, the transition from Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Justin Bieber as Robin would be the worst in movie history.

Monsterblog Wednesday: Horse Names

If we ever make it big, our first purchase is a horse. A lot of rich people have fancy cars, or mansions with moats, or luxurious yachts, but only the truly elite own horses. With great power comes great responsibility, and with great responsibility comes naming your horse. We have to imagine there is nothing worse than watching your stallion cross the finish line with the entire crowd laughing at you because you picked a shitty name. The real winners in horse racing are those brave men and women who dare to be bold when choosing their horses name.

Bubba Gump

bubbablack_horse_running

It was my childhood nickname (because apparently I reminded my parents of a black man with a speech impediment who ran like a white boy with leg braces) and I’ve embraced it ever since. Bubba Gump just so happens to roll off the tongue like a fine wine, and announcers better get used to saying it, because Bubba Gump does two things well: shrimpin’ and winning horse races.

Kevin

Something that I have believed in since I was a child was that human names make the best animal names. Take my hypothetical horse, Kevin, for example. Pretty decent human name, but dynamite horse name! Let’s look at others named Kevin: Kevin Costner, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Spacey, Kevin Durant. Do I need to say more? Kevin will steal the Triple Crown and your heart, with ease.

‘True Detective’ Looks Like the Next Smash Hit From HBO

It looks like HBO really does have a green thumb for original series. Starring Woody Harrelson and Matt “Dreamboat” McConaughey, True Detective follows two detectives as they hunt for a serial killer over a 16-year span. The first season will consist of 8 episodes, and if all goes well season 2 is said be shot “American Horror Story style”. Meaning it would have a whole new plot and characters. I can only imagine what HBO has in the pipeline for this show, and I can only dream of who else they could cast in the following seasons! That’s what I call a BOOM BABY. Look for it January 2014.

PS- HBO, if you are reading this, Ryan and I would like to put our hats in the ring for the parts of the next two detectives. We are a little rough around the edges, but we will allow being paid with a wrestling ring or beer (or both).

Social Meda is Ruining Movie Casting

I know it’s tough to read posts without pictures or videos, but bare with me. First it was BatFleck. Now it’s 50 Shades of Grey. Are we going to have to listen to everyone complain about every major casting decision from here on out? I have a stronger opinion on Affleck being cast at Batman only because I know nothing about 50 Shades of Grey, but it seems that a lot of movie fans have strong feelings about both casting decisions. I agree that every fan is entitled to their own opinion, especially when they are going to spend their hard earned money watching these films (except you, pirate’s. I see you.) But can’t we just enjoy the possibility that people who get paid millions of dollars to cast the right people for a role actually know what they’re doing? Does every decision automatically have to be viewed in a negative light? Social media is great is so many ways, but it’s biggest strength, anyone and everyone can voice their opinion, may also be it’s biggest weakness. Not everyone is going to agree with movie casting, but there is a big difference between disagreeing with a choice and saying that the actor sucks. I don’t care about Alice from Albuquerque’s opinion on movies, and I highly doubt she cares about mine, but we’re forced to exist in the same Twitter-verse, so from here on out, lighten up.

Bryan Cranston, Meet Lex Luthor

“BREAKING Bad star Bryan Cranston has reportedly been cast as  supervillain Lex Luthor in the Man Of Steel sequel, alongside Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman. Cranston is said to have signed at least a six-appearance deal with DC  Comics, which means he may have more chances to destroy Superman in future  Justice League films, according to Cosmic  Book News. An official announcement is expected to be made after the conclusion of the  final season of Breaking Bad. Comic book fans will probably welcome Cranston’s hiring, following his  celebrated portrayal of Walter White – a timid science teacher who starts  cooking meth to pay his medical bills. An insider told Cosmic Book News: “Cranston truly is a dream casting  for Luthor.” With Affleck on board, DC is also rumoured to be considering Matt Damon for  the roles of Aquaman or Martian Manhunter. Mark Strong may also join in the role of Green Lantern mentor Sinestro, which  he played in the recent Green Lantern film.” – news.com.au

Superman vs. Batman is shaping up to be quite the blockbuster. First, Ben Affleck was cast as the caped crusader, and now it appears Bryan Cranston will be playing uber villain Lex Luthor. Breaking Bad fans know Cranston has the ability to portray a bald evil genius, and why not stereotypically cast him now while the brilliant character Walter White is still fresh in our minds. Hopefully this star power, combined with Zack Snyder’s directorial style make for another great superhero flick.
