The First Trailer For ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot’ Looks Fantastic

The story of John Callahan might not be familiar to you. It certainly wasn’t to me prior to this trailer. But after reading up on his life and watching Joaquin Phoenix work his magic in the trailer, I’m very interested.

Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot Trailer – Joaquin Phoenix

Of course the casting of Phoenix as Callahan had some people upset. The reason? Phoenix, a non disabled person, was playing Callahan, a quadriplegic. If you look too far into things you’ll find a reason to get upset about it, and that’s exactly what that “outrage” was about. As far as the trailer goes, it looks fantastic. ‘Isolation’ by John Lennon plays in the background throughout, while Phoenix, Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara and Jack Black star.

You’d be hard pressed to find a better actor than Phoenix to play someone with the life story of John Callahan. A drunk who became a quadriplegic after a car accident and used his new lease on life to became an edgy, derisive cartoonist? That role has Joaquin Phoenix written all over it. The script was adapted by director Gus Van Sant from Callahan’s own autobiography. Van Sant has delved into biographical territory before with the Oscar nominated Milk. Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot is slated for a May 11th release.

Trailer Alert – Chappaquiddick

The Kennedy’s were an American institution. Starting with Joseph and his sons John, Robert and Ted, they ruled American politics during the 20th century. Unfortunately for the Kennedy’s and those close to them, any success or happiness they achieved was overshadowed by controversy and tragedy. Chappaquiddick details the controversial and tragic story that would come to define the Kennedy name.

Chappaquiddick – Trailer

The plot of the film focuses on the Chappaquiddick incident involving then US Senator Ted Kennedy. In 1969, he drove his car off a bridge and into water. While he swam to safety, his passenger and political campaign worker Mary Jo Kopechne drowned inside the car. The details are sketchy from there, and most of it depends on who believe. Do you believe Kennedy, who was trying to save his own ass and career? Judging by the trailer, Ted and his father Joseph are not painted in a positive light. At the very least, the film should give an honest take on such a tragic story.

Chappaquiddick stars Jason Clarke as Ted Kennedy and Kate Mara as Mary Jo Kopechne. The rest of cast is solid as well, including Ed Helms, Bruce Dern and Jim Gaffigan.

Beautiful Killing Machine Benicio Del Toro Is Back In The Sicario 2 Trailer

Sicario was one of the best movies of 2015. It was a perfect mix of action and acting, which few thrillers can pull off. A lot of the credit for both goes to Benicio Del Toro, who was impossible to look away from. Del Toro has always had a commanding presence on screen, and Sicario was some of his best work. If the trailer for Sicario 2: Soldado is any indication, Del Toro is going to be a delight once again.

Sicario 2 Trailer

I’m not sure what it says about me that I really enjoy watching Del Toro kill people. But I really enjoy watching Del Toro kill people. Taylor Sheridan is back as the writer for Sicario 2 while Italian director Stefano Sollima took over the directing duties. Sheridan is quickly becoming one of my favorite screenwriters with Sicario, Hell or High Water & Wind River already under his belt. If Sicario 2 is anything close to those three, I’ll be as happy as Benicio Del Toro killing people. Josh Brolin returns for the sequel as Fed Matt Graver. The film also stars Matthew Modine & Catherine Keener.

Sicario 2 is scheduled to be released June 29, 2018.

The Star Studded First Trailer For Ocean’s 8 Is Finally Here

The Ocean’s movies are some of the best and most entertaining heist films ever made. Whether you love the original or the remake (or the sequels, you murderer) they’re always a ton of fun to watch. Hopefully the same can be said for Ocean’s 8, the all female reboot that released it’s first trailer today.

Ocean’s 8 Trailer

First of all, the cast is stacked. Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson and Anne Hathaway. That’s a hell of a crew. Bullock plays Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney, swoon) estranged sister Debbie. As you can see from the trailer, Debbie needs to assemble a crew to pull off a major heist at the Met Gala. The target: Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) and her $150 million necklace. If you wear a $150 million necklace you probably deserve to get robbed, so I’ll be rooting for the Ocean’s crew.

Ocean’s 8 premieres June 8, 2018.

Trailer Alert – All The Money In The World

All The Money In The World – December 22nd

All The Money In The World has lived an interesting life even before it’s 12/22 release date. The film originally had Kevin Spacey the lead as J. Paul Getty, but after sexual assault allegations against the actor came to light, director Ridley Scott made the change to Christopher Plummer. I never saw any footage or trailer with Spacey in the lead role so I have nothing to compare this to, but Plummer looks like a natural fit for the role.

The film is based on the real life kidnapping of J. Paul Getty’s grandson John Paul III. It’s a pretty insane story, and seems like a perfect fit for the big screen. Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams also star, and Wahlberg can now add ex CIA agent to his long list of insane characters. Kudos to Ridley Scott for reshooting and editing this movie at the last minute so it could still meet it’s release date. The opposite of kudos to Kevin Spacey for being a world class piece of shit.

Trailer Alert – A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place – April 2018

I’m not one of those people who screams to my cats “there’s no originality in Hollywood!” I’m not that guy mainly because I enjoy most movies. But i’m also not that guy because of movies like A Quiet Place. If you keep your eyes, ears and heart open enough, you’re bound to stumble across movies like this. It’s like one giant, high-stakes version of the quiet game. Which is really cool. Hopefully the trailers will keep the monsters hidden until I get into the theater. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are married irl so it will be interesting to see there onscreen chemistry via sign language.

Trailer Alert: Hostiles (Teaser Trailer)

I’m a big fan of period dramas, and I’m also a big fan of Christian Bale, so chances are I’m going to be a big fan of Hostiles. According to IMDB, Hostiles takes place in 1892, with Captain Joseph J. Blocker (played by Bale) as the centerpiece of the film. It’s a period piece Western directed and co-written by Scott Cooper, who has experience with Bale (Out of the Furnace) and filming in this landscape (Crazy Heart). Racism and prejudice have always existed in America, and I’m interested to see how this film examines the strained relationship between white men and their Native American counterparts. Hostiles does not have a release date yet.
