Some Monster Tried To Burn Down The House Used In ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’

WHYNo doubt about it – someone intentionally set fire to the San Francisco home used in “Mrs. Doubtfire,” police say.

A suspect used gasoline around 8 p.m. Monday to try and burn down the the iconic home, used as the set of the 1993 flick, which featured actor Robin Williams as the cross-dressing title character, police said.

There was no serious damage, though scorch marks were visible on the garage and front doors of the home in Pacific Heights neighborhood of the California city, KGO-TV reported.

The suspect may have lit a doormat on fire to try and fan the flames, according to police.

What kind of monster tries to burn down the house used in Mrs. Doubtfire? Yeah it’s kind of ironic that the movie had the word ‘fire’ in it’s name and now someone is trying to destroy the house used in the movie with actual fire, but other than that, this is atrocious. A movie that brought so much joy to the world should be treasured, not ruined in a firestorm of sadness. If I’m being honest, I’ve been waiting for an article pertaining to ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ for months now, just so I could include that video clip above, which has been making the rounds within my group of friends as our most used movie quote recently. So in a way this a win win situation because I got to use the clip and it turns out this arsonist is really bad at lighting fires. If the fire fighters who responded to this call weren’t yelling ‘Help is on the way!’ then this is the biggest case of a missed opportunity in the history of the world.
