Nintendo at E3
With all the new hardware being thrown around at E3 this year, it’s easy to say Nintendo’s presentation was a little dissapointing.
Nintendo, you pulled the NX rug right out from underneath us, deprived us of a new handheld console and then you do something like giving us gameplay footage and a trailer for the brand new Zelda game….
To be fair, they also gave us a handful of new Pokemon that will be on Sun and Moon, but ZELDA MAN, ZELDA!
When I first saw the trailer (embedded above), I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Wind Waker-esque cell shaded graphics were being brought back into the fold. Not that this game is a reproduction of The Wind Waker, far from it, but it’s cool to see this hybrid of visuals that make up Breath of the Wild.
People are calling this an “open-world” Zelda game, which is confusing to me. I recall my days streaking across Hyrule field with Epona, wasn’t this open-world? Sailing across the open seas in my tiny wooden boat, wasn’t this open-world? Hell, side scrolling through landscapes and throwing my sword around, wasn’t this open-world? The landscapes in Breath of the Wild are vast. They seem to be truly grande than any installment previous, but everyone being caught on this “open-world” tagline needs to chill. More RPG-like? Yeah sure. Am I missing something on this?
The Jump Button
I Don’t like it. There, I said it.
Style is than visuals in that I am solely talking about Link’s clothes when I talk about “Style”. My verdict…I like it. Kind of tribe-chic.
This is a Zelda game, people. No matter what tiny little things we can nitpick about it, even a JUMP button, it’s still the next installment in one of the greatest video game franchises ever. I’m going to buy it, you’re going to buy it, what a time to be alive!

Khal Drogo can breathe underwater now? Is that what Synder is getting at? Ok, in all seriousness this is quite the badass Aquaman. If you think back to when Vinny Chase played him this is a completely different kind of aquatic superhero. Just a little bit more jacked and a little more scary as fuck. “Unite the Seven” is a clear connection to the Justice League, but I guess could also mean the seven seas. Time will tell.
Keanu is BACK! Kicking ass like this was the Matrix 4 or something.
Oh yeah, Reek is in it too. Sign me up.
Last night I was able to catch 17 minutes of exclusive footage of “Guardians of the Galaxy” in the IMAX theater downtown (Providence RI). It was part of a marketing ploy to get people excited and talking about the film before its release on Aug 1, and let me tell you, it worked. I am so pumped to see it on the 1st that I might go wait in line for Imax 3D tickets right meow. The film is colorful, funny, and action packed with witty dialogue and a cast of characters that can be best described as “different”. While Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Peter Quill (Starlord [Chris Prat]) steal the show in this 17 minute appetizer, the other characters don’t lack in the least. All of them have their own strengths, weaknesses, and personalties which will help make for a well-rounded plot and excellent group chemistry. From what I gathered from this screening you might even see some of Marvels other supers groups in this or future movies (him hint). Get your tickets for “Guardians” in advance, you’ll be glad you did.
Very similar design to the HTC 1, because when something isn’t broke don’t fix it. It keeps all the things that were awesome about the 1 including: aluminum unibody, dual front facing speakers, beats audio, and a large, crystal clear display. It adds a packed interior with dual cameras on the back, and a new multitasking interface. I’m already more impressed with this than the GS5. Nobody needs a heat monitor built in the phone. Also, has Samsung discovered aluminum yet?
