My sweet obsession with Sam Smith continues, and after he was pegged to sing the theme song for the new James Bond movie ‘Spectre’, he decided to hop back into the BBC studios with his pals Disclosure and cover some Drake. I’d listen to Sam Smith sing a 10 minute about how much he hates me, so needless to say I love this.
ScottBradleeLovesYa is a YouTube page dedicated to fantastic cover songs, whether it be a 1940s big band cover of Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’ or a 1920s cover of Gangsta’s Paradise. The YouTube page is a gem that is no longer hidden, as it almost has 1 million subscribers. If you enjoy music, go to the page, choose a playlist, click play and let the rest take care of itself.

The Backstreet Boys ‘I Want It That Way’ Re-imagined As A 70’s Soul Song Is Now Your New Favorite Song
Back in the 90s, if I to choose between The Backstreet Boys and N’Sync, I’d go Backstreet Boys. They had a deeper song list, and I honestly can’t think of one N’Sync song that I really liked. Sure they had popular hits, but nothing really ages well. It turns out that The Backstreet Boys songs can also be turned into spectacular 70’s soul cover songs. I’m a sucker for live/acoustic music in general, but if you throw in a trombone, saxophone and a singer with a killer voice then I’m hooked. That’s exactly what happened here. Enjoy!
I know we joke around a lot on this site but I am completely serious when I say I may never listen to another song again. Sam Smith was put on this Earth to sing live music, and now that he’s covered one of my favorite songs, I’m not sure where to go from here. I hope Sam Smith is ready to break the all time views record on YouTube because Ryan’s about to put it into over drive.
Music is the essence of life. I think Bill Paxton said that, and quite frankly we agree with everything that man/God has to say. While it’s cool to see artists create original music, everybody loves a good cover song, and we’re no different. Sometimes the cover version of a song even ends up being better than the original. Here are our personal favorites.
In My Life – Dave Matthews Originally by The Beatles
Pretty much the most amazing cover of any song I have ever heard. The video on YouTube has 172,000 views and i’m pretty sure I account for at least 130,000 of those views. This is one of those songs that takes you to the brink of depression one moment and the next fills you with jubilation. (Jubilation is my word of the day). To say Dave kills this song would be an understatement. I can bet there wasn’t a dry eye in the house after he was done making sweet love to his guitar.
All Along The Watchtower – Jimi Hendrix Originally by Bob Dylan
Nobody played the guitar like Jimi Hendrix, and nobody could cover a song like him either. The greatness of this song can be summed up like this: when you think of All Along the Watchtower, you think of Jimi Hendrix. Legend has it Bob Dylan himself has admitted that it’s Jimi’s song now, even if it’s Dylan’s lyrics and creation. The only sad part of this song, and every other Jimi Hendrix song, is that it reminds me how great he could have continued to be.
