Barry – Spring 2018
The synopsis for Barry is simple: Bill Hader stars as Barry, a seasoned assassin who discovers a new passion for acting while on assignment in Los Angeles. Add in the fact that this will be airing on HBO, and you have one of the more anticipated shows of 2018. I’m a huge Hader fan dating back to his SNL days, and I think his brand of humor will be perfect for this role. Not a lot is known about this show according to IMDb, but Alec Berg is listed as a writer and director. If you don’t know that name, you’ve probably heard of some of the shows he’s worked on. Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm & Silicon Valley just to name a few. This is only a teaser trailer, but with a spring 2018 debut planned, I’m assuming a full trailer is coming soon.
Source – Barry Switzer has mixed feelings on the Heisman winner. The legendary coach who won three national titles with the Sooners and a Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys, joined The Morning After on St. Louis CBS Sports 920 Wednesday.
Switzer blasted Manziel’s attitude, calling his behavior embarrassing at times.
“I don’t like his antics. I think he’s an arrogant little prick. I’ve said that and I’ll say it again. He’s a privileged kid, he’s embarrassed himself, he’s embarrassed his teammates, he’s embarrassed his coaches.”
“For whatever his antics are… he’s the best that I’ve seen. I have never seen a quarterback in college football… control of the game like he does and put up the numbers he does. It is fantastic what he’s done, against good competition. Game after game after game he puts numbers up that are staggering….. He’s the most dominant, most dynamic college quarterback I’ve ever seen in a long, long time.”
Jeez Barry, tell us how you really feel. Yes he tried to save face and said he thought Manziel was a good quarterback but calling someone a prick kind of trumps that. Actually calling someone an “arrogant little prick” trumps most things. In my opinion, Switzer comes off as a cranky old man in this interview. I understand not everyone likes Manziel’s style or his off the field antics. But he just turned 21. He’s one of the best college football players in the country and he’s from TEXAS. Being a great football player from Texas must be like dying and going to heaven. Texans worship football like I worship meatloaf (the food) and Clooney. I can give him a pass for having a little too much to drink from time to time. One thing that I know for sure is that whoever drafts him has a potentially franchise changing quarterback who, above all else, will be a lot of fun to watch.
This was definitely the highlight sketch for me. Jimmy Fallon and JT play Barry and Robin Gibb, two of the three brothers from the Bee Gee’s. I can’t say whether Fallon’s Barry Gibb impression is accurate, but its sure as hell funny. Plus, a cameo from THE ACTUAL Barry Gibb is pretty, pretty cool. Talkin’ bout crazy, cool medallions.
So much hype around tomorrow’s episode, which in my opinion should be the best show of the season. A little JF/JT/Barry Gibb talk show never hurt anyone. Have a great weekend everybody!
