Trailer Alert – Borg Vs McEnroe

It’s no secret that here at The Average Nobodies we are big Shia LeBeouf guys. We’ve been in his corner since day one and we aren’t leaving. Having said that, it should come to no ones surprised that we are tickled pink by Shia playing tennis legend John McEnroe. After the blockbusters-only start to his career, Shia seems to be only doing pieces that he find interesting and moving. In a Variety.com interview, he actually said that he cried the first time he read this script. Interesting show of emotions for a film like this, but I also cried during the oping credits of Wonder Woman, so who am I to call the kettle black. I’m always excited to see Shia get deep in a character, so this film particularly peaks my interest.

Trailer Alert: Fun Mom Dinner

Fun Mom Dinner isn’t going to be one of those movies where you stand in an hour long line at 1100pm the Thursday before opening night, but not every film needs to be your new favorite movie. Some movies are made and exist to watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and I think Fun Mom Dinner is going to be that movie. It’s not an original premise, but it’s got a pretty stacked cast (Toni Collette, Katie Aselton, Molly Shannon, Adam Scott, Adam Levin & Paul Rudd) and was written by Julie Rudd, who happens to be the wife of Paul. Clear your schedules August 4th, or just watch this whenever the hell you want to. Either way, it should be funny.

Trailer Alert – Jumanji 2: Welcome to the Jungle

If you told me back in 1999 that The Rock would one day be doing the people’s eyebrow as the lead in a Jumanji remake, I would have many, many questions for you. Since The Rock can do whatever he wants, here he is in a Jumanji remake, doing the people’s eyebrow in what looks like it’s going to be a really fun movie. I like the twist too, as The Rock isn’t going to be playing a macho character, and Jack Black will be forced to actually try to be funny when he’s playing someone who looks like current day Jack Black with the personality of a popular high school girl. Rock and Kevin Hart have great comedic timing together, so they should be hysterical, too. With the way the roles play it out in the trailer, it looks like Karen Gillan could turn out to the bad ass star in the movie, which is a refreshing take for a movie starring The Rock. Jumanji 2 is scheduled to premier December 20th.

Trailer Alert – The Greatest Showman

You can tell a lot about a movie by the time of year the studio chooses to release it. If a movie is being released between Memorial Day and Labor Day, there’s a solid chance it’s going to be an action movie. If it’s released on or around Halloween it’s going to be a horror movie and if it’s released during Christmas you bet your ass it’s going to be an uplifting story that’s going to capitalize on everyone being in the holiday spirit. It should come as no surprise then that The Greatest Showman, a movie about the rise of P.T. Barnum and his show business spectacle/circus has an inspiring theme to it’s trailer. In the mid 1800s I have to imagine people were more worried about dying from a splinter than enjoying something called ‘show business’, but Barnum had a vision and executed it to the T. Bearded women, midgets, trapeze artists, Zac Efron; you name it, he had it in his show.  If you’re ever in need of a pick me up, watch this trailer and try not to smile. The Greatest Showman premieres Christmas day.

Sweet Baby Jesus Trailer Alert – #GameofThrones Season 7 #WinterIsHere

So. When HBO first announced that season 7 Game of Thrones wasn’t debuting until mid July, I was upset. I thought ‘damn you, HBO, mid July is a million years from now!’. Well now we’re only three and half weeks away from it, and with each trailer that gets released, I get a little more jazzed up. The best part – there won’t be any other TV shows to grab my attention, so I can go full psycho fan on this season. The newest trailer that was released today looks absolutely incredible, and there’s so much happening that I’m not even going to try and break it all down.

What I will say is that it looks like Bran has a fancy new wheelchair, and when I say fancy new wheelchair I mean it looks like it was made out of stone and I’m sure he’d rather be crawling around on the ground. Also, the character I’m looking forward to the most this year is Euron Greyjoy. He did an interview the other day where he said his character was going to make Ramsay Bolton look like a little kid, which is not a great sign for anyone standing in his way. Summer may have officially started today, but winter is here July 16th.

Trailer Alert – American Assassin

If you’re asking yourself ‘what would a movie directed by a guy who directs for Homeland and written by a guy who writes for The Americans’ look like then you’ve come to the right place. American Assassin was directed by Michael Cuesta and the screenplay was written by Stephen Schiff, and it really does look like the coolest and most bad ass version of both Homeland and The Americans. Also, I’m now more envious of Dylan O’Brien than anyone else on planet Earth. Imagine being cast in a movie where Michael Keaton is your spy/secret assassin trainer? That sounds like a dream I definitely have every night. Release date is TBD, but there’s nothing TBD about my plans to watch the shit out of this movie.

Trailer Alert – Thank You for Your Service

Movies that explore the effects of PTSD on returning soldiers aren’t a new concept, but in today’s world it’s one of the more important stories to tell. Thank You for Your Service attempts to do just that, with Miles Teller in the lead as a serviceman who returns home and is expected to return to a life of normalcy after literally going through war. The trailer is riveting, and Teller is one of my favorite actors, as is Haley Bennett, who was wonderful in Girl on the Train & The Magnificent Seven. This is also the directorial debut of Jason Hall, who wrote American Sniper, which earned him an Academy award nomination. Thank You for Your Service will premiere on October 27.

Trailer Alert – Black Panther

WELL THEN! Looks like Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) has been busy since we last saw him getting his arm ripped off by Ultron. This is a nice little snippet, but I need more! Especially of Michael B. Jordan’s character.
