Trailer Alert: Orange is the New Black Season 5
The last time we saw the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary they were reeling over the “accidental” death of Poussey Washington, one of the best and most versatile characters on the show. I put the word accidental in quotes because while her death wasn’t a purposeful act, it was easily preventable. Warden Caputo and Officer Piscatella had been escalating tensions all season, and the death of their beloved Poussey at the hands (or knee) of Piscatella was the last straw. Season four ended with the inmates revolting against the people in charge, and judging by the season five trailer above, it picks up right where four left off. Will the women of Litchfield finally come together as one and force change or will Poussey die in vain? I can’t wait to find out.
Season five starts streaming on June 9th.

Trailer Alert – Marvel’s The Defenders
Hold onto your butts…
Ok, THAT looks awesome. Having been slightly (putting it nicely) disapointed by Iron Fist, this is exactly what I needed for the MCNU (Marvel Cinematic Netflix Universe [I’ll bill you later, Marvel]) to pull me back in.

While I still think Danny Rand’s character is tone deaf, this trailer brings back all the positive emotions I have from these Marvel Netflix shows. Can’t wait for this to hit Netflix; this is going to be a one-day binge FOR SURE.

Trailer Alert – The Dark Tower
The long anticipated trailer, to the long anticipated movie, based on the best selling books by Stephen King, has finally landed. I had no idea what this movie was about, up until I watched this trailer. All I knew was, Idris Elba and Matt Mcconaughey were in it and that I should “read the books first”. It looks totally badass and now I can’t wait to see it. It has a sci-fi western/medieval twang to it that cranks my gears. Probably won’t pick up the books (because I am completely unmotivated to read a story that already has a trailer out), but I will be in line for tickets opening night.

Trailer Alert: Transformers – The Last Knight
It started as a legend…
I am seriously more excited for this Transformers movie than I have been for any in the franchise. The lore woven in to this installment is the most intriguing by far, and I think it could rival the first one for best film of the franchise. Say what you want about Bay as a director, but he knows how to get butts in the seats…especially my butt.
Also, did you catch that little Easter egg on the moon at 0:56? I believe that was Sentinal’s ship from “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” getting torn up by Unicron. Pretty cool little throwback. Just further showing that Michael Bay doesn’t piece these stories together with hot glue. They are all well thought out installments into a bigger tale.

Trailer Alert – Thor Ragnarok
So much parody between Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” and the plot of “Ragnarok.” Let’s give a round of applause for the people picking/picked the music for 2016 and 2017 trailers. Excellent work.
Initial reactions: No! Not Mjolnir! | YES! Bruce Banner returns!
I got to be honest, I wasn’t super looking forward to this movie. I just recently watch the other two Thor movies, and while they were good, there is just so much coming out this year that I was more excited for. This trailer changed that really quick.
Check out Thor’s new haircut.

Trailer Alert: Game of Thrones Season 7 #GOT
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxWfvtnHtS0
We’re 105 days away from Game of Thrones season 7 (but who’s counting) and thus far we’ve gotten very little footage of the new season. For those of us that sat on FaceBook Live and watched a block of ice get melted by a blowtorch, this new trailer is sweet relief. It’s interesting times for Game of Thrones fans because this is going to be the first season premiere where we know when the series is going to end. The writers will have two seasons to sum everything up, and after the events of last year’s finale, they clearly have a long way to go. No one man (or woman) stays on top for long, which isn’t good news for Queen Cersei, but this preview trailer does a great job highlighting the three main suitors for the ultimate throne, while reminding us that the real King is still a certain plainly colored Walker. July 16th can’t come soon enough!
FYI – If you’re wondering what that haunting song is that’s playing in the trailer, Nerdist has you covered.
