David Bowie & Mick Jagger’s Glorious Sexual Tension Taking You Into The Weekend
Weekend Video – Dancing in the Streets
This weekend we’re all about facts. Fact: David Bowie & Mick Jagger are two of the greatest musical minds of all time. Fact: Dancing in the Street is a catchy ass song & the sexual tension in this music video is off the goddamn charts. While the original music video is great, the sexual tension really gets ramped up when you take away the music. Enjoy this glorious video and more importantly, have a great weekend everybody.

Mindhunter Has Been Renewed For Season 2 By Netflix
Mindhunter Renewed For Season 2
We need to talk to more subjects. pic.twitter.com/7pTnxAhM0G
— MINDHUNTER (@MINDHUNTER_) November 30, 2017
Season 1 of Mindhunter was one of the finest Netflix original dramas ever, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise it’s been renewed. It’s still nice to have the official confirmation though, and Netflix made the announcement via the official Mindhunter Twitter account. We dove deep into season 1 of the show on episode 53 of the Average Nobodies podcast, but you should really check it out for yourself. Jonathan Gross & Holt McCallany are one of the more unique and fascinating cop pairings on TV while Cameron Britton’s Edmund Kemper will destroy you.
The show weaves multiple storylines throughout it’s first season, and ends the final episode with a few stories still left unsolved. I won’t spoil anything if you haven’t seen season 1, although it would be odd to be reading a renewal post for a show you haven’t seen. I digress. Watch season 1 as soon as possible and then join everyone else on Planet Earth for the countdown to season 2.

Trailer Alert – All The Money In The World
All The Money In The World – December 22nd
All The Money In The World has lived an interesting life even before it’s 12/22 release date. The film originally had Kevin Spacey the lead as J. Paul Getty, but after sexual assault allegations against the actor came to light, director Ridley Scott made the change to Christopher Plummer. I never saw any footage or trailer with Spacey in the lead role so I have nothing to compare this to, but Plummer looks like a natural fit for the role.
The film is based on the real life kidnapping of J. Paul Getty’s grandson John Paul III. It’s a pretty insane story, and seems like a perfect fit for the big screen. Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams also star, and Wahlberg can now add ex CIA agent to his long list of insane characters. Kudos to Ridley Scott for reshooting and editing this movie at the last minute so it could still meet it’s release date. The opposite of kudos to Kevin Spacey for being a world class piece of shit.

SNL Announces December Hosts Saoirse Ronan, James Franco & Kevin Hart
Saoirse Ronan, James Franco & Kevin Hart To Host December SNL Eps.
SNL has had an interesting start to it’s 43rd season. They’re still stuck in Trump mode (although Alec Baldwin has not appeared on the last two shows) and they’ve utilized a lot of first time hosts. That trend will continue Saturday when Saoirse Ronan makes her SNL debut, but 2017 will end with a few familiar faces. Franco has hosted three times while Hart has hosted twice, and they’re more household names than the Haddish’s and Ronan’s of the world. With everything happening in Hollywood, having fresh faces host is probably a smart move, but I do enjoy when some old favorites return.
Kevin Hart had one of my favorite monologues of season 41 and Franco is always down to get weird, which usually makes the best hosts. The other thing to look for this weekend and moving forward is how SNL responds to the Al Franken sexual misconducts news. Franken is a former writer and cast member, so I’d expect Jost and Che to have something to say about him during Weekend Update.

Netflix Recommendation – Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond
Jim Carrey & Andy Kaufman: The Great Beyond

Photo: Rolling Stone
A little over a month ago we posted the trailer for Netflix’s latest documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. The doc chronicled Jim Carrey’s role as Andy Kaufman for the 1999 film Man on the Moon. I finally sat down to watch it last night, and I can not recommend it enough. The doc splices a present day interview of Carrey with behind the scenes footage from the film set as well as Carrey’s own career during his rise to stardom. If you’ve never seen Man on the Moon, you should see it as soon as possible, because Carrey is otherworldly in it. He won the Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy or musical and once you watch the movie you’ll know why.
Kaufman was one of Jim Carrey’s comedic inspirations and one of my favorite parts of the documentary is Carrey speaking honestly about the impact Kaufman has had on his life and career. Carrey has always been envious of Kaufman’s creativity and comedic freedom, and you can tell his experience making Man on the Moon still has a profound effect on him. All the backstage footage was shot by Kaufman’s real life girlfriend Lynne Margulies or Bob Zmuda, Kaufman’s partner in comedic crime. Because of this, the footage is as raw as can be. Simply put: while on set, Jim Carrey did not exist. There was either Andy Kaufman or his insane alter ego, Tony Clifton.
While method acting isn’t a new term, it’s rare that we get to see the process up close and personal. Carrey is so completely in character as Kaufman that members of Kaufman’s family that were on set react as if their brother or son had miraculously come back to life. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows though, and Carrey talks a little about how guilty he felt “being Kaufman” which in turn made everyone else’s job so difficult. It got to the point that Universal, the studio that made Man on the Moon, tried to bury the footage “so that people wouldn’t think Jim is an asshole”.
Things got extra tense on set when Jerry Lawler, Kaufman’s “nemesis”, showed up to film his parts. Carrey went full on Kaufman, to the point that Lawler tried to attack him and put him in the hospital. Was this real? We’ll never really know. That was the beauty of Kaufman in real life and of Carrey’s performance. Kaufman never seemed to care if you liked him or not, but he was always going to keep you guessing. Carrey did the same thing while on set, and the main takeaway I got from his present day interviews was that Carrey never the same after filming. He might have been on the top of the world in Hollywood, but he never felt as free as he did portraying Kaufman.
Take an hour and 40 minutes out of your day and watch this great documentary. Watch the brilliance of Andy Kaufman and the brilliance of Jim Carrey. You won’t be disappointed.

WWE Raw 11/27/17: Five Stars

Photo: WWE
WWE RAW 11/27/17
WWE Raw was live from Knoxville, Tennessee last night in the same arena where John Cena beat Bray Wyatt in 2014. Some things don’t change. In lieu of a full review of a 3 hour pro wrestling show, I’m going to spotlight the five best moments/matches/wrestlers from last night’s show.

And now, the five stars from the November 27th, 2017 edition of WWE Raw.
5. The IC Title Open Challenge & Reigns vs. Elias
The one thing I wanted from a Roman Reigns IC title run was for him to go full Cena and issue open challenges. When Cena was US champ he did more for that title than anyone else before or after him. It was a great use of a main event guy who didn’t need the title making the title prestigious. Reigns open Raw with a promo where he challenged anyone in the locker room to a title match. The first man up was Elias, and I loved it for a few reasons.
First – Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel still have a TV role while Miz films Marine 26: Lost in Space. If you aren’t’ sure why that’s a good thing, watch the second video above. Second – Elias has been one of the best surprises of 2017, but he hasn’t had much direction lately. By pairing him up with Dallas & Axel & giving him a shot at the IC title, it gives him a story and a possible feud with Miz when he returns.
While it’s great to give Elias a shot like this, it would all be for naught if he didn’t deliver. Luckily for Elias and the fans, he looked outstanding in his match against Reigns. Roman has the WWE formula of a ‘big time’ match down to a science, and I loved that Elias delivered most of the offense. Even though everyone in the building knew Roman was winning, they still put together a great match with some solid near falls. Elias looked great, the IC title looked like a title people should want and the fans got a competitive, clean match.
As long as Reigns’ reign doesn’t end with Alberto Del Rio returning and taking the strap, his IC title run should be a huge success.
4. Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins
My only issue with The Bar/Ambrose & Rollins feud is that they’re using singles matches to build to a tag title match. It would make more sense to have both teams looks good in tag team matches versus other teams, but ‘making sense’ & ‘WWE’ don’t always coexist. The match itself was great though, and it was refreshing to see these two fight with no one at ringside. I know Ambrose was on his honeymoon and Sheamus was in Dublin, but WWE has programmed me to pay more attention to people outside the ring than in it.
Cesaro and Rollins could have a good match blindfolded, but this match had a good pace to it, and I enjoyed Cesaro working Rollins’ back and almost winning with the sharpshooter. It was the second best on the show behind Reigns/Elias and I’m looking forward to the tag title match next week.
3. Samoa Joe Forever
I’ve written this before, but I adore Samoa Joe competitive squash matches. He did it in NXT and has continued the trend on the main roster. When you look at Samoa Joe vs. Titus O’Neil on paper, it looks like a giant mismatch. Instead of Joe just walking over Titus, he lets Titus get in a good amount of hard hitting offense. That makes Titus look good, especially after Joe has choked him out multiple times. It also makes Joe look good because it shows he can take offense from a 6’6 270 pounder and still recover for a decisive win.
While the win over Titus was nice, the best Samoa Joe moment happened after Reigns defeated Elias:

Reigns issuing the open challenge at the beginning of Raw gave us a great match and direction for someone who needed it (Elias) and a new, worthy challenger (Joe). I’m all in for a Reigns/Joe IC title blood feud, especially if Roman is eventually going to move onto Lesnar during WrestleMania season.
2. Absolutely Asuka
My favorite part of Absolution (the official name of Paige, Mandy & Daria’s death squad) is how it gave each woman in the division much needed character alignment. Absolution is supposed to take on Sasha, Bayley & Mickie James, but they take out Bayley & Mickie pre match. Alexa Bliss is on commentary but she wants no part of Absolution, so when they stalk Sasha, she bails. Bliss is the anti Reigns in the sense that she’d be happy being the champion forever and never having to defend it, so she’s all for Absolution destroying people. While I like Sasha better as a cocky heel, the crowd loves her, so making her the ‘against all odds’ baby face makes sense.
Later in the show Asuka beats Dana Brooke in literally three seconds. After the match Absolution comes out for what looks like another 3 on 1 attack, but they decide against it. Could Absolution take out Asuka 3 on 1? Probably. Should they take her out to prove a point and then have an angry killing machine hunting their every move? Probably not. Absolution wanted Asuka to know they’re always lurking, but aren’t ready to start an all out war with the one woman who could take them all out. It’s a smart play for Absolution and it distinguishes Asuka as the only woman on the roster too dangerous to attack 3 on 1.
1. Cruiserweights
I’m not sure who finally decided to give the cruiserweights something to do, but bless their heart. Kurt Angle set up a mini tournament to crown the #1 contender for Enzo’s cruiserweight championship, and it’s a perfect multi week story for the division. The four minute 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 matches weren’t helping anybody, so fatal 4 ways are a huge upgrade. The cruiserweight division has so much talent that I’m not sure why they aren’t doing these types of matches every week, but I’ll take this match and the one next week as a start.
Rich Swann was the obvious star out of the four and he was long overdue for a spotlight win. All four guys looked good and more importantly were given enough time, which is all you ask for with the cruiserweights. Next week’s 4 way should be interesting, as I’d think they’d want to have Swann versus a member of the Zo Train to build some type of story for the #1 contender’s match in two weeks.
Supplementary Stars: Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy
I didn’t want to include Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy on this list because of how often WWE screws up Wyatt’s character. The post match “breakdown” of Hardy gives me some hope though, as does Matt’s tweet:
YEEAAAASSSSSSSS! My dormant CONDISHTION has been #WOKEN. pic.twitter.com/SJ3S1YQgut
— #WOKEN Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) November 28, 2017
Is this Hardy’s and WWE’s way of getting around the Broken lawsuit? If it is and Hardy/Wyatt join forces, I’m all in. If this leads to a one on one feud that Wyatt 1000% loses, I will set my computer on fire.

Morgan Will Be The Walking Dead/Fear TWD Crossover Character
The long awaited crossover between The Walking Dead and spinoff Fear The Walking Dead will see Lennie James’ Morgan Jones character bridging the stories between the two series and moving to the latter.
This doesn’t mean that the Morgan character will be leaving TWD, even as James prepares to start filming on FearTWD tomorrow morning in Austin, Texas – at least not right away. “Even though Morgan is going to be featured on Fear, he has a lot of story left on The Walking Dead,” said showrunner Scott M. Gimple in a statement read out on Talking Dead on Sunday. “Morgan’s arch on The Walking Dead Season 8 positioned him for the story on Fear,” the EP added. “It was also important to see Fear‘s world and characters through new yet familiar eyes.” – Deadline
Morgan Joins Fear The Walking Dead
If you have 11 whole minutes, the above video goes in depth on the move to have Morgan crossover to Fear TWD. If you don’t, that’s why I’m here. On last night’s Talking Dead Lennie James (who plays Morgan) announced he will be filming season four of Fear TWD today. Now while some websites are upset about the decision, this is definitely a sign of the times.
Lennie James could not have shown up on the set of Fear TWD without someone getting a picture of him. I have to believe producers knew this and wanted to get this news out there on their own terms. While this may be a spoiler on Morgan’s fate for this season of TWD, the news would have leaked either way.
The decision to make Morgan the character to cross over can be debated all day, but once again, filming HASN’T EVEN STARTED YET. I’m willing to see how this all plays out before casting a ton of judgment. My hope is that the Fear TWD timeline lines up with The Walking Dead between seasons 1-3, which is when Morgan went from mild mannered father to zombie hunter.
Morgan (and pretty much every other character) has always been more interesting when he puts inner conflict aside and decides to be an actual human being living in a zombie apocalypse and turn into a murder machine. The Morgan that learned to make cheese and twirl a stick doesn’t interest me, so if we get crazy CLEAR Morgan, I’m down.
I also don’t think that Fear TWD is going to make Morgan the only crossover character, as they have too deep a roster of characters we care about from The Walking Dead to only feature Morgan. Abraham? Dale? SHANE? Pretty much anyone but Andrea is OK with me. The possibilities are endless, and I’m excited to see where they go from here.
