Simply put: if you enjoy Guillermo Del Toro movies, there’s a high chance you’re going to like The Shape of Water. IMDB explains the plot as “An other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.” Sign me the hell up. Add in Michael Shannon as a borderline psychotic government agent who yells at himself in the mirror and doesn’t understand sign language and you’ve got one hell of an intriguing story. The Shape of Water premieres this December.
