Dirk Nowitzki Is The 6th Player In NBA History To Score 30,000 Points
On Tuesday night, Dirk Nowitzki – my favorite basketball player of all time, joined the 30,000 point club. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain; those are the only five players in NBA history to score more points than Dirk Nowitzki. It’s an incredible feat, and now in his 19th season, Nowitzki is in the twilight of his career. While he may not be the player he once was, he showed Tuesday night why he’s one of the greatest pure shooters of all time. He finished the night like he finishes most nights: extremely efficient, with a little bit of everything mixed in. He shot 9/13 from the floor, including 3/4 from 3 point range, and added 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block in the Mavericks win. He still averages 14 points and a little less than 7 boards while only playing 26 minutes a game, and if he wasn’t so loyal to the Mavs and Mark Cuban, he’d probably be an important cog on a championship contender right now. His current contract takes him through next season, where he would join Kobe Bryant as the only players in NBA history to play 20 seasons for one NBA franchise. To my favorite player and the best Maverick of all time I say thank you, and keep shooting.
