If Wrestling Promo’s Won Awards Paul Heyman Earned All Of Them For His Interview On #RAW

Raw catches a lot of flack (sometimes deservedly so) for the way it builds their feuds, but the one recent feud that has been surprisingly great is the current Brock Lesnar/Goldberg saga. Goldberg returned from a 12 year hiatus and cut easily the best promos of his life, setting up the feud with Lesnar which was originally supposed to culminate with their match at Survivor Series. Plans changed the week of the show, and Goldberg shockingly trounced Lesnar in less than two minutes. We haven’t seen or heard from Lesnar since, but Paul Heyman returned to WWE TV last Monday to give us an update on Lesnar, and he was magical. First of all, nobody conveys emotion without speaking quite like Paul Heyman. When he’s first shown on camera, he looks unkempt, hasn’t shaven and has bloodshot eyes. He even sheds some tears during the promo, and explains how embarrassing of a loss this was for Lesnar and his legacy. You don’t feel bad for Lesnar, and you’re not supposed to, but when you’re watching Heyman do his thing it’s hard not to get swept up in the story. The biggest news, and the point of the interview, is that Brock Lesnar is entering the Royal Rumble, and Heyman promises a motivated Brock Lesnar who now has something to prove. If that doesn’t scare the shit out of everyone in the WWE, I don’t know what will. This feuds keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait to see what happens at the Rumble.
