Ty’rez Johnson Is Going To Be The Envy Of All His Friends (And Me)

Iron HandTy’rez Johnson, 5, was just like any other boy at his school, but now he has a cool-looking Iron Man hand that allows him to do things he could never do before.

His new hand is a 3D printed prosthetic that fills in for the absence of his five fingers on his right hand, which was caused by Amniotic Band Syndrome.

Gail Gorman, Ty’rez’ grandmother, said that prior to the prosthetic he was always very nonchalant about his hand, or “his little hand” as he calls it.

“Kids at school and people would always look at him and ask, ‘What happened to your hand?’ and he would say, ‘That’s just the way God made me,'” Gorman said in an interview with WSCC.

Even with the absence of his fingers, Ty’rez was able to do day-to-day things such as zipping his jackets, tying his shows and playing mobile games.

Now with the Iron Man hand Ty’rez is able to hold a bat, get on a swing and successfully carry a lunch tray.

How about a feel good story that doesn’t involve race wars and cities being burned to the ground? This is the epitome of turning a terrible situation into an amazing, positive experience. Ty’rez is also kind of my hero. I can’t imagine it’s easy being a little kid without fingers on one of your hands, especially with how nosey and mean some kids can be. But Ty’rez seems like he takes everything in stride, and now he has an IRON MAN HAND. Even if you’re not a fan of Iron Man, this is pretty badass. He’s basically a superhero, and now that he can hold a bat, it’s home run city, population Ty’rez ‘Iron Man’ Johnson. Good for Ty’rez, and I’m glad that there are some stories out there that prove the world isn’t a completely terrible place.
