Lana Del Ray Just Rocketed (Pun Intended) to the Top of My Favorite People List After Her Comments on Space Travel

“Lana Del Rey says feminism is “not an interesting concept”.

The comments came in an interview with The Fader , in which she discusses her forthcoming album ‘Ultraviolence’.

Asked about the way she portrays women in relationships in her music, Del Rey said: “For me, the issue of feminism is just not an Lana_Del_Rey_Releases_Music_Video_For_New_Track_'Burning_Desire'6cropinteresting concept. I’m more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what’s going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities. Whenever people bring up feminism, I’m like, god. I’m just not really that interested… My idea of a true feminist is a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants.”

I have never really followed Lana Del Ray, i’m not even sure I know one of her songs, I just was never interested, but that has all changed after this recent interview where she brought up how much “our intergalactic possibilities” mean to her. From previous posts on this blog you might know that I am a bit of a space nut. I am a member of The Planetary Society, I visit Nasa every time I go to Florida,  I have sent in my application to be on the first human mission to mars, hell I even have a rocket ship tattooed to the back of my arm! I love space and space exploration and now I love Lana Del Ray, and while I don’t have a place in the conversation when it comes to feminism I think that she has her head in the right place. America needs to rediscover its adventurous side and get back into space! I’m not talking about the International space station either, I’m talking about getting out there and discovering the universe. That won’t happen unless there are more people like Bill Nye, Matt Vieira, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and now Lana Del Ray.
