It’s Officially the Best Time of the Year to Be a Wrestling Fan

Tonight is the final Raw before WrestleMania xxx, which means the best day of the year is only six days away. If Christmas and my birthday ever made sweet love then that beautiful baby would be WrestleMania. I think this psychotic Daniel Bryan speaks for all of us when he says COME ON MOTHERFUCKER, COME ON! Let’s take a look at what to expect tonight on RAW.

Cena/Wyatts

stare, John Cena, wrestling

It’s safe to say that Cena hasn’t fought someone like Bray Wyatt in a long, long time. He’s not a superior “wrestler”. He’s not a giant or a strongman. He’s just a master manipulator who does not care if he wins or loses, as long as John Cena’s legacy is destroyed/he wears a sheep mask. Wyatt is the most enjoyable guy on WWE TV right now, mostly because his promo’s are out of this world. He’s proven he can hang in the ring, and all the “little things” he does (spider walk, scaring the fans at Elimination Chamber) are turning him into one of the most unique characters in recent memory. John Cena is John Cena. There’s nothing that can be said about him that hasn’t already been said. I actually like Cena, and I’d probably be rooting for him if he was facing anyone else besides Bray. You have to believe Cena will get the upper hand tonight, especially after last week, which hopefully leads to a Wyatt win next Sunday in New Orleans.

Undertaker/Brock Lesnar

This feud has been a little stale for me, but I guess when your fighting in your 22ND CONSECUTIVE WrestleMania match, it’s tough to build to a match without using some old tricks. Last week’s empty casket trick was predictable, and with the general consensus being that ‘Taker will win, something big needs to happen on Raw tonight to at least make people think Brock has a chance. The Undertaker usually puts everything he has into his WrestleMania match (which most of the time is his only match of the year). Add in the fact that Brock is the most agile monster in the history of the WWE, and I have a feeling this match is going to positively surprise everyone.

The Shield/The Authority

This feud/match really hinges on how well the New Age Outlaws can mesh with The Shield. Shield has proven they can go in the ring with just about everyone on the roster, and Kane is Kane. If Road Dogg and Billy Gunn can get their old asses around that ring, then this should be an enjoyable, albeit short lived feud that hopefully boosts The Shield up a peg. As a side note, I couldn’t be happier WWE decided to hold off on breaking up The Shield. It’ll happen eventually, because tag teams and factions in the WWE Universe do not last, but I’m glad they’ll get another WrestleMania moment together. WWE has done a great job focusing on each members strengths, which will help Reigns, Ambrose and Rollins when they go on singles runs. But for now, I’m still believing in The Shield.

HHH/Daniel Bryan/WrestleMania main event

The general consensus here is that Daniel Bryan will somehow get past HHH and beat Batista/Randy Orton in the main event to become the WWE World Heavyweight champion. This segment will probably end Raw, since the triple threat match will most likely end WrestleMania. I’m a lot more interested in the Daniel Bryan/HHH match, mostly because Batista has been amazingly underwhelming since returning and Orton, although he’s been solid, has become an afterthought. The departure of CM Punk has become a blessing in disguise, as there is no doubt that Bryan is the most popular guy in the company. If Punk was still there, he’d be fighting HHH, and Bryan would most likely be another entrant in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Instead, Bryan has a chance to become the champ in the main event at the 30th anniversary of WrestleMania. Not too shabby. The only way I’ll accept a different outcome is if HHH takes off an invisible shirt and pedigrees Bryan on the cement floor.

As always, we’ll be live tweeting Monday Night Raw over on @averagenobodies. Come hang out and interact if you’ll be watching!

PS- Punk, you really screwed the pooch on this one. Not only are you done with the best wrestling company in the world but you are missing one HELL of a Mania. I hope sitting home in Chicago is worth the last few months of your contract.
