Miley Cyrus’s American Music Awards Performance was Interesting
Nothing screams “I’ve lost my mind” like having a giant virtual kitten staring everyone in the face during your performance on an awards show. Between the bleached eyebrows and the humongous virtual kitten, it’s clear that Miley is teetering on the brink of insanity. I’m half expecting her to perform a ritualistic sacrifice at her next show. It could happen.

Someone is trying too hard to be artsy and create a stir.
A relative of mine asked me during a family night–this was prompted by talking about music–what I thought about Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. Considering that I don’t listen to either, my answer was quick, but it sounded thought out.
Objectively, these two can sing, and that has to be applauded. Gaga is more of a lyricist that Cyrus by far. With Gaga, we are curious about what she is going to do next. We expect strange, but we know we will be entertained more than offended.
With Cyrus, we know she will hit extremes. She’s gone from innocent to crude with a snap of fingers, and she wants to be memorable. So she tries too hard, leaving us to think: “Oh, that was typical.” There is no Wow Factor, and it’s capped off with her over-used “trademark” wink and tongue gesture.
The song by itself is respectable enough for being a hit, the lyrics have feeling behind them, but the feeling behind it is lost with her acting like like a jackass.
Cotigo ergo sum: I think therefore I am. If Cyrus is using this as her mantra to define herself as an “artist,” she needs an awakening because she is an idiot. Trying too hard to be artistic when you aren’t only makes your image worse.
Then there is Taylor Swift, but that is for another time. The trio if idiocy is now complete.
She definitely has an interesting way of promoting herself. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like she’s going away anytime soon.
